Issue description
Triggers when the main processor and the safety processor inside the steering system lose synchronization, disagree on the active steering program, or fail their internal software crosscheck.

Check the cause
Cycle the tractor's key power to rule out a boot-up timeout or temporary voltage drop causing the controllers to fall out of sync.
Check for accompanying codes such as 15275 (incorrect steering valve configuration) or 15280 (boot-up timeout), which can point to CAN communication issues rather than a hard internal valve failure.
Inspect the CAN bus wiring and the electrical connectors plugging directly into the steering valve for moisture, corrosion, or backed-out pins.
Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify the configuration of the steering valve controller and check if a software update is available.
Repair steps
Connect the Case IH EST laptop to the tractor's diagnostic port and perform a full system scan to confirm code 15276 is active.

Inspect and clean the electrical connections at the steering valve.
Ensure connections are clean and secure.
If the wiring is sound, attempt to re-flash or update the software on the steering valve controller using the EST to force the main and safety controllers to resynchronize.
Software update to resynchronize controllers.
If the software update fails or the code immediately returns, the internal safety controller circuitry within the steering valve has failed. The valve cannot be serviced internally and must be replaced.

Relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system.
