Case IH 15283 – MTA CCM (Cab Control Module) / Steering Valve Controller: Incorrect steering valve controller configuration - CAN wheel angle sensor device enabled

A configuration mismatch error indicating that the steering valve controller's software is programmed to expect a CAN-based wheel angle sensor, which conflicts with the physical hardware installed on the machine or other enabled auxiliary steering parameters.

   Physically inspect the steering axle to determine if a CAN wheel angle sensor is actually installed on the machine

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) and review the steering valve controller's configuration settings

   Look for related steering valve spool or CAN communication faults (such as the 15244–15251 series codes) that might indicate a broader CAN bus failure rather than just a configuration error

   Connect EST

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the tractor's diagnostic port.

   Access configuration menu

   Access the MTA CCM and navigate to the Steering Valve Controller configuration menu.

   Locate parameter

   Locate the parameter for the wheel angle sensor (often found under auxiliary steering devices).

   Disable sensor setting

   If the tractor is not equipped with a CAN wheel angle sensor, change the setting from 'Enabled' to 'Disabled' (or select the correct analog sensor type if applicable).

   Re-flash or re-calibrate

   If the tractor is equipped with the sensor, re-flash or re-calibrate the steering valve controller to ensure the CAN addresses and configuration files are uncorrupted.

   Perform key cycle

   Save the configuration and perform a full key cycle (power down the machine, wait for the boot-up timeout, and power back on).
