The controller monitoring the steering valve has detected an internal software anomaly or a temporary logic fault (a "soft error") rather than a hard physical failure of a mechanical component.

   Perform a complete key-off/key-on power cycle to see if the soft error clears itself from the controller's active memory.

   Access on-board diagnostics via the instrument cluster (navigate to R1 module, menu H3, AST system) to view active and stored codes.

   Verify the current software version on the Steering Valve Controller (SVC), as outdated software is a primary cause of false soft errors.

   Clear the Code

   Using the instrument cluster diagnostic menu (R1 module -> H3 menu -> AST system) or an electronic service tool (EST), clear the fault code stack.

   Test Operation

   Operate the steering system to see if code 15284 returns. If it does not return, the soft error was a transient glitch and no further repair is needed.

   Software Flash/Update

   If the code returns immediately or intermittently, connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST). Reflash the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) with the latest OEM software release.

   Recalibration

   After a software update, perform a steering angle and steering valve calibration procedure to ensure the controller's dataset matches the hydraulic configuration.

   Module Replacement

   If the controller refuses to take a software flash or continuously generates internal software failures, the physical Steering Valve Controller module must be replaced and programmed with the correct dataset.
