Case IH 15286 – Steering Valve Controller (SVC): Incorrect steering valve controller configuration - Configured for Auxiliary steering device
Issue description
This code indicates a configuration mismatch within the steering system's software. The controller is programmed or flagged as having an "Auxiliary steering device" (such as an aftermarket GPS auto-guidance system, ISOBUS Class 3 steering, or a Fast Steer module) enabled, but the hardware checksum, physical wiring, or secondary controller data does not match this configuration.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- Steiger T4B
- Case IH AFS Connect Magnum Series 180, 200, 220, 240, 250, 280, 310, 340, 380
- Case IH Vestrum Series 100, 110, 120, 130
- Case IH Puma Series 115, 125, 140, 155, 165, 180, 195, 210
- Case IH Steiger / Quadtrac Series
Check the cause
Verify if the tractor actually has an auxiliary steering system installed (e.g., Trimble, Ag Leader, or factory AFS autoguidance)
Check the ISOBUS diagnostic page on the Pro 1200 display (or equivalent AFS Pro monitor) to verify the steering mode setting
Inspect the electro-hydraulic steering lockout switch (roading switch) to ensure it is functioning correctly and not locked in road mode
Using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST), verify the software versions of the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) and the Steering Redundant Controller (SRC)
Repair steps
Connect Diagnostic Tool
Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the tractor's diagnostic port.
Access Controller Configuration
Navigate to the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) configuration menu.
Verify Auxiliary Steering Setting
If the tractor DOES NOT have an auxiliary steering device: The configuration is incorrectly enabled. Change the setting to disable the auxiliary steering device. If the tractor DOES have an auxiliary steering device: Ensure the configuration dataset matches the installed hardware (e.g., ISOBUS Class 3 steering vs. standard auto-guidance). Reload the Advanced Steering Configuration controller dataset if necessary.
Perform Calibrations
A configuration change or software flash will require recalibration. Perform the Wheel Angle Sensor Calibration followed by the Steering Valve Calibration using the EST or the in-cab display.
Clear and Test
Clear the fault code stack. Cycle the ignition key (turn off, wait 30 seconds, turn back on). Turn the steering wheel lock-to-lock and engage the auto-steer (if equipped) to ensure the code does not return.
