Case IH 15292 – Steering Valve Controller (SVC): Incorrect steering valve controller configuration - Valve calibration
Issue description
The controller responsible for the autoguidance steering valve lacks a valid calibration, or the calibration data is out of the expected parameters. Without this calibration, the system cannot accurately determine the hydraulic valve commands required for precise steering movement, disabling the AFS AccuGuide autosteer system.
Applies to these machines
8 machines- Steiger T4B
- Magnum Series (180, 200, 220, 240, 250, 280, 310, 340, 380)
- Steiger Series
- Puma Series
- Optum Series
- Vestrum CVX Series
- Mid-Range Combines
- Flagship Combines (8120)
Check the cause
Ensure the hydraulic oil is at normal operating temperature (cold oil will cause calibration failure)
Measure the steering cylinder rod length to ensure mechanical centering (must be within 1/4 inch on both sides)
Verify the machine is configured correctly for DGPS guidance in the display (Toolbox > Drives > Autoguidance Type = DGPS)
Ensure the GPS receiver has full convergence (ideally less than 1 inch cross-track error) before attempting calibration
Repair steps
Move machine
Move the machine to a wide-open, flat area.
Perform Rear Wheel / Steered Wheel Position Calibration
Navigate to CALIBRATION > CALIBR on the display. Select Rear Wheel Position (or Steered Wheel Position). Drive the machine straight ahead (engaging guidance if possible) and press OK to save the center position.
Perform Steering Valve Calibration
Navigate to CALIBRATION > CALIBR and select Steering Valve Calibration. Follow the on-screen prompts. The machine will perform one coarse calibration followed by three fine calibrations, turning the wheels automatically to learn the proportional gain and dead zone.
Perform Roll Offset Calibration
Navigate to CALIBRATION > NAV. Find a center reference point at the front of the machine and follow the prompts to compensate for vehicle tilt and navigation controller placement.
Verify repair
Cycle the key power to verify that fault code 15292 has cleared. If the calibration repeatedly fails, the steering valve or the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) may be mechanically or electrically faulty and require replacement.
