Case IH 15294 – Steering Valve Controller (SVC): Incorrect steering valve controller configuration - CAN wheel angle sensor device enabled
Issue description
Configuration mismatch, EEPROM data error, or a Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) failure regarding the calibration data of the CAN-based Wheel Angle Sensor (WAS) communicating with the steering valve.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- Steiger T4B
- Case IH Farmall series
- Case IH Magnum series
- Case IH Steiger
- Case IH Vestrum CVX Series
Check the cause
Verify CAN Communication by checking the Wheel Angle Sensor (WAS) counts (left, center, right) via the tractor's diagnostic display to ensure the sensor is actively reading
Verify that the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) software and the Advanced Steering Configuration controller datasets are up to date
Ensure the hydraulic oil temperature is above 5 °C (41 °F) before attempting any steering valve or sensor calibrations
Repair steps
Apply the park brake and ensure the hydraulic oil is up to operating temperature.
Access the calibration menu.
On some models, this is done by pressing and holding the Autoguidance system switch while switching the ignition on and starting the tractor.
Capture the Right ("RGHt"), Left ("LEFt"), and Neutral ("ntrL") positions in a specific sequence.
Drive the tractor forward slowly at 2–6 km/h (1–4 mph).
Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left-hand steering lock.
Press the corresponding button on the display to set the left-hand WAS value.
Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right-hand steering lock and set the right-hand WAS value.
Return the steering wheel to the exact straight-ahead (neutral) position and save the setting.
Verify the calibration voltage information shown on the cluster.
If the display reads "Calibration OK (PASS)", the configuration has been successfully rewritten.
If the calibration fails repeatedly due to a CRC error or EEPROM failure, the Steering Valve Controller or the CAN Wheel Angle Sensor must be replaced and reprogrammed by a dealer.
