Case IH 15295 – MTA CCM & APH: Incorrect steering valve controller configuration - Wheel angle sensor calibration
Issue description
This condition indicates that the steering valve controller has an incomplete, missing, or invalid calibration for the Wheel Angle Sensor (WAS). When this code is active, the auto-guidance/auto-steer systems will remain disabled until a successful calibration of the system is completed.
Applies to these machines
8 machines- Steiger T4B
- Maxxum
- Magnum
- Steiger
- Quadtrac
- Farmall
- Patriot
- Trident 5550
Check the cause
Check for active sensor supply voltage codes (such as 3509.03 or 3509.04) which indicate a wiring or hardware failure rather than a calibration issue
Ensure the machine is parked on a level surface with several acres of smooth ground available for the driving portion of the calibration
Verify that the hydraulic oil temperature is above 5 °C (41 °F) before attempting calibration
Inspect the wheel angle sensor linkage and node orientation to ensure they are physically intact and not bent or damaged
Repair steps
Apply the park brake and verify hydraulic oil temperature is above 5 °C (41 °F).
Ensure the machine is ready for calibration.
Access the calibration menu on your display.
Keep the Autoguidance system switch pressed, switch the ignition on, and start the calibration sequence.
Navigate to the Wheel Angle Sensor Calibration (WAS) screen.
Locate the specific calibration menu for the WAS.
Drive the machine forward at a steady speed between 1 - 4 mph (1.6 - 6.4 km/h).
Note: The machine must remain moving during the WAS calibration.
Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left steering lock.
Prepare to set the left WAS value.
Press the "Left" button on the display to set the left WAS value.
Record the left steering lock position.
Do not turn the steering wheel until the WAS screen advances to the "Center WAS" setting.
Crucial Step to ensure accurate calibration.
Repeat the process for the Center (straight ahead) and Right steering lock positions as prompted by the display.
Complete the calibration for all steering positions.
Review the WAS calibration information on the "Calibration Complete" screen and press Accept/Next to save.
Finalize and save the calibration settings.
