Case IH 15301 - AST – AST (Advanced Steering Technology) / Steering Valve Controller (SVC) / Steering Redundant Controller (SRC): Incorrect steering valve controller configuration - internal monitoring configuration checksum
Issue description
The internal software configuration data stored in the steering valve controller is corrupted, mismatched, or invalid. The controller runs a self-diagnostic checksum on its internal memory to ensure the configuration files are intact; when the calculated checksum does not match the expected value, this code is triggered, and the auto-guidance/steering system is disabled for safety.
Applies to these machines
8 machines- MAXXUM T4E

Check the cause
Verify Software Versions: Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check the current software version of the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) and the Advanced Steering Configuration controller dataset.
Check for CAN Bus Errors: Ensure there are no underlying communication faults (e.g., I2C communication failures or CAN bus voltage drops) that could have interrupted a previous software update or calibration save state.
Attempt H-Menu Access: Verify if the AST module is communicating with the instrument cluster. You can enter the diagnostic mode by navigating the H menus using the switches on the instrument cluster (Navigate to the R1 module, menu H3, and select the AST system).
Repair steps
Connect Diagnostic Tool
Connect the Case IH EST (Electronic Service Tool) to the tractor's diagnostic port.
Re-flash Configuration Dataset
Navigate to the AST / Steering Valve Controller module. Attempt to re-download or update the Advanced Steering Configuration controller dataset (e.g., dataset version 3.2) to overwrite the corrupted checksum.
Perform Software Update
If a newer software version is available for the SVC or SRC (e.g., updating to software version 2.02), flash the controllers.
Hardware Replacement (If Flash Fails)
If the EST cannot communicate with the controller, the flash fails, or the 15301 checksum error immediately returns after a successful flash, the Steering Valve Controller has suffered an internal EEPROM/memory failure and must be physically replaced.
Recalibrate AST System
After a successful flash or hardware replacement, you must recalibrate the steering system. This includes calibrating the wheel angle sensor and the steering valve deadbands using the EST or the tractor's H3 menu.
