15307

Case IH 15307 – MTA CCM & APH: Incorrect steering valve controller configuration - Steering wheel configuration

Issue description

This code indicates that the electronic configuration data stored in the steering valve controller does not match the physical steering wheel hardware installed on the machine, or the configuration has been corrupted/lost.

Applies to these machines

  • Steiger T4B
  • Farmall
  • Maxxum
  • Puma
  • Optum
  • Magnum

Check the cause

  1. Check for accompanying steering configuration codes that might indicate a broader EEPROM or calibration failure (e.g., 15292 for Valve calibration, 15295 for Wheel angle sensor calibration, or 15309 for Auxiliary steering configuration)

  2. Verify the physical steering wheel and steering column components match the factory build sheet, especially if the tractor was recently modified or repaired

  3. Ensure the MTA CCM & APH module is communicating properly over the CAN bus using the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST)

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic tool

Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the tractor's diagnostic port.

  2. Turn ignition ON

Turn the ignition key to the ON position (engine off).

  3. Navigate to module

Navigate to the MTA CCM & APH module in the EST software.

  4. Access Configuration menu

Access the Configuration / Calibration menu for the steering valve controller.

  5. Select configuration

Select the correct Steering wheel configuration that matches the tractor's specific build and hardware.

  6. Save configuration

Save the configuration to the controller's EEPROM.

  7. Perform subsequent calibrations

Perform any required subsequent calibrations (such as the auto-calibration configuration or wheel angle sensor calibration, if prompted).

  8. Clear codes and verify

Clear the fault codes, cycle the key off for 30 seconds, and turn it back on to verify that fault code 15307 does not return. (Note: If the controller refuses to accept the configuration or throws a checksum error like code 15308, the controller itself may be internally faulted and require replacement or a complete software re-flash.)

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Steering Valve Controller / Auto-Guidance Steering Module

Specific part numbers vary heavily depending on the exact Case IH model and Stage V MR architecture. Look up in the CNH parts catalog using the specific tractor's PIN/Serial Number.
