Case IH 15308 – Steering Valve Controller (SVC): Incorrect steering valve controller configuration - Steering wheel configuration checksum

The steering valve controller has detected a checksum mismatch or data corruption within its stored configuration parameters for the steering wheel or auxiliary steering setup.

   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify the software version and configuration settings of the Steering Valve Controller (SVC)

2. 2

   Check for corrupted data caused by a recent failed software update, battery voltage drop, or interrupted calibration attempt

3. 3

   Ensure the CAN bus communication between the Cab Control Module (CCM) and the Steering Valve Controller is intact and not dropping packets

4. 4

   Look for accompanying codes such as 15309 (Auxiliary steering configuration) or 15311 (Auto-calibration configuration) which point to broader configuration loss

   Re-configure the Controller

   Using the CNH EST, navigate to the Steering Valve Controller configuration menu. Reload the correct tractor configuration file (e.g., Advanced Steering Configuration dataset).

   Perform Calibration

   Run the steering wheel and steering valve auto-calibration procedures to generate a new, valid checksum.

   Flash Software

   If the controller will not accept the configuration or the checksum error immediately returns, re-flash the SVC software to the latest version (e.g., software version 2.02).

   Replace the Module/Valve

   If the controller suffers from internal EEPROM failure and cannot retain the flashed configuration, the Steering Valve Controller (or the entire steering valve assembly, depending on how it is serviced on your specific model) must be replaced.

   Post-Repair Calibration

   If hard parts are replaced, you must use the EST to configure the new module and calibrate the steering angle sensors and valve deadbands.
