Case IH 15315 - AST – AST (Advanced Steering / Auto Steer) / Steering Valve Controller (SVC): Steering valve controller failure - VPS configuration data checksum incorrect

Configuration data stored within the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) has become corrupted, is invalid, or does not match the expected checksum. The controller cannot verify its safety parameters, and the auto-steer/advanced steering system will disable itself to prevent unintended steering movements.

   Access On-Board Diagnostics (R1 module, menu H3) and select the AST system.

   Check for accompanying voltage/communication codes (e.g., 15324, 15317, 15319) that might explain data corruption, such as battery voltage drops or 5V reference signal issues.

   Verify Software/Dataset: Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check the current software version and configuration dataset loaded onto the Steering Valve Controller (SVC).

   Re-flash the Controller

   Connect the Case IH EST and attempt to re-flash the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) with the correct software and Advanced Steering Configuration dataset.

   Perform Calibration

   If the flash is successful, perform the steering valve auto-calibration procedure, as well as the wheel rotational angle sensor and steering wheel position sensor calibrations.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Clear the fault codes and cycle the key. If code 15315 returns immediately, the internal memory of the controller has failed and cannot retain the configuration data.

   Replace the Controller/Valve

   If the controller will not hold the flash, replace the Danfoss PVED-CLS Steering Valve Controller (or the complete EHi steering valve assembly, depending on how the parts are serviced for your specific model).

   Program New Module

   After physical replacement, the new controller must be flashed with the correct software and configuration dataset, followed by a complete AST system calibration.
