Case IH 15316 – SVC: Steering Valve Configuration Data Incorrect
Issue description
The configuration data related to the Valve Position Sensor or Vehicle Positioning System stored within the steering controller is corrupted, invalid, or missing. This prevents the electrohydraulic steering and autoguidance systems from operating correctly.

Check the cause
Warm up hydraulic fluid to normal operating temperature before attempting any software calibrations.
Check controller relays by opening the controller cover on the back of the tractor, turning the key on for more than two seconds, and listening/feeling for a relay click. No click indicates a hard physical failure of the controller.
Verify wheel speed sensors are functioning without throwing separate error codes, as autoguidance and steering configurations rely on accurate speed data.
Check the steering angle sensor (located in the articulation hinge or axle) for wear, incorrect assembly, or poor calibration.
Repair steps
Access the Calibration Menu
On the AFS Pro 700 or Pro 1200 display, navigate to TOOLBOX > CALIBRATION > CALIBR.
Perform Rear Wheel Position Calibration
Drive the machine in a perfectly straight line in a wide-open area. Press OK on the display to save the center position. Measure the steering cylinder rod length; it must be within 1/4 inch on both sides. Adjust mechanically if needed.
Perform Steering Valve Calibration
Select the Steering Valve Calibration from the menu. This allows the controller to find the flow thresholds of the proportional valves. Note for Combines: During this calibration, you may not see any physical wheel movement. The calibration process will complete internally.
Perform a Roll Calibration
Complete a roll calibration to ensure the autoguidance guess row is perfectly aligned.
Software Reflash
If the calibrations fail to save or the code immediately returns, the SVC software is corrupted. A dealer must reflash the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) to the latest software version (e.g., version 2.02).
