15324 - AST

Case IH 15324 - AST – Steering Valve Controller (PVED-CLS): Steering valve controller - battery voltage below normal operating range.

Issue description

The supply voltage to the electrohydraulic steering controller has dropped below the acceptable operating threshold (below 9V), which may occur during cranking or the Power-On-Self-Test.

Check the cause

  1. Verify battery is fully charged (12.6V resting) and alternator outputs correct voltage (13.5V - 14.5V) during operation.

  2. Inspect wiring harness supplying power and ground to the PVED-CLS steering valve controller for chafed wires, loose pins, or corrosion.

  3. Perform a voltage drop test directly at the PVED-CLS power connector while cranking and running (look for drops below 9V).

  4. Ensure chassis ground connections for the steering controller are clean and tight.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the negative battery cable before servicing the electrical system.

  2. Repair Wiring

If the diagnostic checks revealed a voltage drop in the harness, repair the damaged wiring or replace the corroded connector pins at the PVED-CLS module.

  3. Clean Grounds

Remove, clean, and retighten the main chassis grounds and the specific ground wire for the steering controller.

  4. Re-test

Reconnect the battery and clear the fault codes. (On some models, navigate the H menus on the instrument cluster to the R1 module, menu H3, and select the AST system). Start the tractor and monitor the voltage.

  5. Module Replacement

If the harness provides a steady 12V+ to the controller under load, but the PVED-CLS still logs code 15324, the controller has an internal hardware fault and must be replaced.

  6. Calibration

If the PVED-CLS module is replaced, use the diagnostic interface to perform the 'Auto Steering Calibration Mode' to pair the new controller with the tractor's safety and guidance systems.
