Case IH 15334 - AST – AST (Advanced Steering) / PVED-CLS: EEPROM diagnostic sectors: approval CRC failure
Issue description
Internal memory failure within the steering controller. The Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) for the diagnostic sectors of the EEPROM has failed, indicating the controller's internal software has detected that its stored diagnostic or configuration data is corrupted, erratic, or cannot be verified.
Applies to these machines
11 machines- MAXXUM T4E
- VESTRUM CVX
- Steiger
- Quadtrac
- Magnum
- Optum
- Puma
- Farmall
- Axial-Flow
- Patriot/SPX
- Austoft
Check the cause
Verify power and ground by checking the wiring harness supplying the PVED-CLS controller for voltage drops, loose grounds, or damaged pins that could cause voltage spikes.
Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check if the PVED-CLS controller is communicating on the CAN bus.
Attempt to clear the fault stack. If the code remains active, attempt to re-flash the PVED-CLS firmware using the EST to determine if the internal memory is permanently damaged.
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Turn off the machine, actuate the steering wheel to relieve hydraulic pressure, and ensure the machine is safely supported.
Disconnect Electrical Harness
Unplug the CAN and power connectors from the PVED-CLS module on the steering valve.
Remove the Controller/Valve
Depending on the model, unbolt just the PVED-CLS module (usually held by mounting screws) from the Danfoss EHi valve body. If the module is not serviced separately, remove the hydraulic lines and extract the entire steering control valve assembly.
Install the New Component
Mount the new PVED-CLS module (or valve assembly) and torque the mounting screws to OEM specifications. Reconnect the hydraulic lines (if removed) and the electrical harness.
Bleed the System
Start the machine and slowly turn the steering wheel lock-to-lock to bleed air from the hydraulic steering circuit.
Software Calibration
Use the Case IH EST to download the correct machine profile, calibrate the steering dead-bands, and calibrate the Wheel Angle Sensor (WAS).
