15336 - AST

Case IH 15336 - AST – Steering Valve Controller (SVC): EEPROM configuration sectors: approval CRC failure

Issue description

This fault indicates that the configuration data stored in the non-volatile memory (EEPROM) of the steering controller has failed its Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC). The configuration dataset required to operate the advanced steering system is corrupted, missing, or invalid.

Applies to these machines

  • MAXXUM T4E
  • VESTRUM CVX
  • AFS Connect Magnum 180
  • AFS Connect Magnum 200
  • AFS Connect Magnum 220
  • AFS Connect Magnum 240

Check the cause

  1. Verify Active Faults: Enter the diagnostic mode by navigating the 'H' menus using the switches on the instrument cluster. Navigate to the R1 module, menu H3, and select the AST system to confirm the active status of the code.

  2. Check Software/Dataset Versions: Using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST), verify the current software and dataset on the Steering Valve Controller. A corrupted dataset is the primary cause of this code.

  3. Inspect Power Supply: Check for recent low battery voltage events, loose grounds, or power interruptions. Voltage drops during an EEPROM write cycle are a common cause of CRC corruption.

Repair steps

  1. Re-flash the Controller

Connect the Case IH EST diagnostic tool to the machine. Attempt to reload/re-flash the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) with the correct Advanced Steering Configuration dataset.

  2. Perform Calibration

If the flash is successful, perform a full steering system calibration. The system will not operate safely until the new EEPROM configuration is calibrated to the machine's specific steering angle sensors.

  3. Replace the Controller

If the EST tool cannot communicate with the module, the flash process fails, or the 15336 code immediately returns after a successful flash and calibration, the physical EEPROM chip inside the controller has failed. The Steering Valve Controller must be replaced.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Steering Valve Controller (SVC) / Advanced Steering Controller

The physical hardware part number varies heavily depending on the exact tractor model and steering valve block configuration. Always verify the physical hardware part number stamped on the existing PVED-CLS/SVC unit before ordering a replacement.

  • SVC Software

    51631896

    Version 2.02 (for re-flashing)

  • Advanced Steering Configuration Dataset

    51573865

    Version 3.2 (for re-flashing)
