1563-02 - IMM

Case IH 1563-02 - IMM – IMM (Implement Module / Implement Message Monitor): CAN Address Conflict

Issue description

Another controller or device on the CAN bus is attempting to broadcast using the same identification address as the IMM, or there is an 'Incompatible Monitor/Controller' on the network, preventing the modules from communicating properly.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Case IH Magnum series
  • Case IH Steiger / Quadtrac series
  • Case IH Axial-Flow Combines
  • Case IH Puma and Farmall series

Check the cause

  1. Check for configuration mismatches between the IMM and the Machine control ECM.

  2. Isolate the network by disconnecting any recently added implements, aftermarket monitors, or third-party ISOBUS devices one by one to see if the address conflict goes inactive.

  3. Power cycle the machine's key off and on to see if the fault resets or reoccurs immediately (indicating a hard fault).

  4. Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness for shorts or damage that could be causing the IMM to broadcast erratic identification states.

Repair steps

  1. Reset the System

Turn off the machine key to reset the system and clear inactive faults.

  2. Disconnect Conflicting Devices

Physically disconnect the implement or device that was isolated during the diagnostic checks as the source of the CAN address conflict.

  3. Reconfigure Addresses

Using the Case IH AFS Pro display or an electronic service tool, reconfigure the conflicting module's CAN address so that it does not share an identification address with the IMM.

  4. Clear Faults

Once the address conflict is resolved, navigate to the 'Diagnostics' -> 'Faults' screen on the AFS display and verify the fault has turned green (inactive). Depress the 'Reset' button to clear it.

  5. Replace Module (If Necessary)

If the IMM itself has an internal memory or hardware failure causing it to broadcast the wrong ID, the module must be replaced and flashed with the correct machine configuration.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Implement Module (IMM) / CAN Controller

If replaced, the new IMM requires programming/configuration via the dealer service tool to match the specific Case IH tractor or combine ECM to prevent further address mismatch errors.
