Case IH 1563-31 - VCM – UCM (Universal Control Module) / VCM (Vehicle Control Module): Incorrect controller configuration

This fault indicates that the control module has an invalid configuration parameter, a mismatch between the programmed software and the machine's physical hardware, or an incomplete calibration sequence.

   Verify if the tractor recently received a software update, a module replacement, or had new hardware installed (such as a grid heater, loader valve, or ISOBUS implement). New hardware not enabled in software will trigger this code.

   Check for associated codes, such as parameter validation faults (e.g., 'Invalid configuration between IC and UCM') or incomplete calibration codes (e.g., Joystick Calibration not complete, Ground Drive Calibration not complete).

   Physically verify the tractor's build (transmission type, hydraulic valve count, PTO options) to ensure you know exactly what should be programmed into the controller.

   Connect diagnostic tool

   Connect the Case IH EST laptop to the tractor's diagnostic port.

   Access VCM menu

   Launch the diagnostic software and navigate to the UCM / VCM controller menu.

   Open Machine Configuration

   Open the Machine Configuration screen.

   Review parameters

   Review the configuration parameters line by line. Compare the EST values to the physical hardware on the tractor.

   Update settings

   Change any incorrect settings to their proper values (for example, if a grid heater or specific spread deflector is physically on the machine but the software says 'Not Installed', change the Type ID value to '1 (installed)').

   Save configuration

   Save the new configuration settings to the UCM.

   Perform calibrations

   If the EST prompts that any subsystem calibrations are incomplete (such as loader valves or ground drive), perform the required calibration wizards.
