Case IH 15972 - 08 - CSM – Cab Suspension Module (CSM): CAN bus communication failure or timeout between the Cab Suspension Module (CSM) and the main Vehicle Controller

The vehicle's main computer is no longer receiving expected data messages from the cab suspension system, which can result in the suspension defaulting to a hard/emergency mode or becoming inoperative.

   Cycle power by turning the key switch OFF and then back ON to see if communication resets

   Inspect the wiring harness and physical connections to the Cab Suspension Module for loose pins, corrosion, or damage

   Verify system voltage to ensure no undervoltage or overvoltage conditions are causing modules to drop off the CAN bus

   Check the software version of the CSM using the Electronic Service Tool (EST)

   Connect diagnostic tool

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the diagnostic port.

   Retrieve fault codes

   Retrieve active and stored fault codes to see if the CSM is completely offline or if the fault is intermittent.

   Inspect wiring

   Inspect the CAN bus wiring between the Vehicle Controller and the CSM. Repair any broken wires or replace damaged connector pins.

   Update software

   If the wiring is intact and holds proper CAN resistance (typically 60 ohms across the network), attempt to re-flash or update the CSM software.

   Replace module

   If the module will not communicate with the EST and wiring is verified good, replace the Cab Suspension Module (CSM).
