It typically points to an internal logic error, an unexpected signal, or a software glitch within the electrohydraulic steering valve actuator.

   Check for Concurrent Codes: Enter the on-board diagnostic mode via the instrument cluster (navigate to the R1 module, menu H3, and select the AST system). Look for other active AST codes (like 15990-15998) that might provide more context.

   Verify Power Supply: Check the power supply at the controller harness. If the voltage drops below 9V, the electrohydraulic system will not function correctly and may log erratic codes.
