Case IH 16 – General Control Module (GCM) or Tractor Control Unit (TCU): Open circuit connection to load sensing pin, short circuit to ground or failed load sensing pin

The controller is not receiving the expected voltage reference from the draft load sensing pin (often specifically designating the Left-Hand load sensing pin).

   Unload the 3-point hitch by removing any implements to ensure the load sensing pins are not under any physical draft loading

   Access the tractor's diagnostic H-Menu (e.g., H9 channel 34 on MXM models) to view the live sensor value; a value of approximately 48 points to an intermittent circuit issue

   Visually and physically inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the load sensing pins for corrosion, loose pins, or wire chafing

   Use a multimeter to test the load sensing circuit for an open connection or a direct short to ground

   Repair or replace harness

   If the diagnostic tests reveal an open circuit or a short to ground in the wiring, repair or replace the affected section of the hitch harness.

   Replace load sensing pin

   If the wiring is intact and the circuit tests fine, the load sensing pin itself has failed internally and must be removed and replaced.

   Update software or replace GCM

   If the error re-occurs and no intermittent circuit is indicated, download the correct/latest level of software to the controller. If the fault still persists after a software update, remove and replace the General Control Module (GCM).

   Install Draft Load Sensing Pin Elimination Kit

   If draft sensing is not required for the tractor's primary applications, install a Draft Load Sensing Pin Elimination Kit: disconnect the factory load sensing pins, plug the electronic bypass modules into the factory harness connectors, and secure the modules with tie wraps.
