Case IH 16125 – Air Conditioner Controller: High pressure switch (+) input shorted to power
Issue description
This indicates an electrical circuit fault where the signal wire (positive input) from the Air Conditioning (A/C) high-pressure switch is receiving a higher voltage than expected. The system detects that the circuit is shorted directly to a power source, which prevents the controller from accurately reading the A/C system pressure.

Check the cause
Locate the A/C high-pressure switch on the high-pressure side of the A/C line, near the receiver-drier or the A/C compressor.
Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the switch for rubbed-through insulation, melted wires, or pinched harnesses that could cause the signal wire to touch a 12V power wire.
Disconnect the switch and inspect the electrical connector for corrosion, water ingress, or bent/pushed-out pins.
With the key ON (engine OFF) and the switch disconnected, use a multimeter to probe the signal wire terminal on the harness side. If it reads 12V, the short to power is in the wiring harness. If the harness tests fine, the internal contacts of the high-pressure switch itself have likely shorted.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent accidental electrical spikes during repair.
Access the Switch
Gain access to the A/C high-pressure switch on the A/C line.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical connector from the switch.
Harness Repair (If Applicable)
If your diagnostic checks revealed a short in the wiring, trace the wire back to the Air Conditioner Controller, locate the short, and splice/repair the damaged wire using heat-shrink connectors.
Replace the Switch (If Applicable)
Verify if the switch is mounted on a Schrader valve. If no Schrader valve is present, the A/C system must be properly evacuated by a certified technician before removing the switch. Unscrew the faulty high-pressure switch. Lubricate the O-ring on the new switch with a drop of refrigerant oil. Thread the new switch onto the fitting and tighten to OEM specifications (do not overtighten, as the brass body can break).
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical connector.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition ON, and use the tractor's diagnostic menu (or a service tool) to clear the stored 16125 fault code from the Climate Controller.
Test
Start the engine and engage the A/C to verify the compressor clutch engages and the system cools properly.
