   Inspect the hydraulic filter to determine if it is actually clogged, which would cause the switch to close normally.

   Inspect the electrical connector at the hydraulic filter restriction switch for dirt, corrosion, or loose pins.

   Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter (should be Open under normal conditions, closing only at 2.75 bar or 40 PSID).

   Find the hydraulic filter restriction switch, which is threaded into the primary hydraulic filter base/housing.

   If the switch fails the continuity test (e.g., it is stuck closed when there is no pressure), unthread the old switch from the filter base. Install the new switch and tighten it to OEM torque specifications.

   Reconnect the wiring harness, turn the key on, and use the diagnostic menu or a scan tool to clear the 1713-06 fault code from the VCM.
