Case IH 17519 (DTC F39F) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): SCR Inducement: Warning, triggered by EGR valve blocked fault.
Issue description
This code indicates that the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve is physically blocked, stuck, or failing to move to its commanded position, which triggers the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Inducement logic.

Check the cause
Check for accompanying EGR-related electrical codes (e.g., position sensor voltage faults or actuator circuit faults) to rule out a wiring harness failure.
Inspect the EGR valve and the EGR cooler passages for severe carbon/soot buildup, which is the most common cause of a mechanically blocked valve.
Use a diagnostic tool (such as CNH EST or Jaltest) to command the EGR valve actuator and compare the commanded position versus the actual position.
Verify that the engine oil is not degraded or overfilled, as excessive crankcase pressure or poor combustion can accelerate soot buildup in the EGR circuit.
Repair steps
Preparation
Turn off the machine, disconnect the battery, and allow the engine and exhaust components to cool completely.
Access the EGR Valve
Locate the EGR valve assembly on the engine (typically mounted near the exhaust manifold and EGR cooler).
Removal
Disconnect the electrical wiring harness connector from the EGR valve actuator. Remove the mounting bolts securing the EGR valve to the manifold/cooler. Carefully extract the valve.
Cleaning vs. Replacement
Inspect the valve. If it is heavily caked in soot but mechanically sound, you can attempt to clean it using a dedicated EGR/carbon solvent. However, if the internal motor is burned out from fighting the blockage, or if the valve is permanently seized, it must be replaced.
Installation
Install the new or cleaned EGR valve using new OEM gaskets to prevent exhaust leaks. Torque the mounting bolts to the specifications outlined in the FPT service manual.
ECU Reset
Reconnect the battery and electrical harness. You must use a diagnostic tool to clear the F39F fault code and perform the 'Configure - Reset ECU data (EGR valve)' routine. This allows the ECU to learn the end-stops of the new valve. If this is not done, the inducement derate may not clear.
