Case IH 17543 (F-518161-31) - ECU – Engine Control Module (ECM / ECU) / ECU A-028: ECM Internal failure - Torque comparison fault

Indicates a plausibility failure within the engine control unit's torque comparison logic. At engine startup, the ECU monitors up to five temperature sensors for mutual plausibility. If a sensor (such as the intake manifold temperature and boost pressure sensor) provides a clearly implausible value, this internal ECU plausibility fault is triggered. As a protective measure, the machine's inducement system is locked due to a 4-hour inducement limit.

   Verify the readings of all engine temperature sensors for mutual plausibility at startup

   Inspect the Boost Pressure & Air Temperature Sensor (designated as B-FPT-48)

   Disconnect the engine harness (EN) from the B-FPT-48 sensor and check the wiring for a short to ground or open circuit

   Resolve Underlying Sensor/Wiring Issues

   Repair or replace any damaged wiring or faulty temperature/boost sensors (like B-FPT-48) that are feeding implausible data to the ECU.

   Connect Dealer Service Tool

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.

   Perform System Reset

   Navigate through the dealer service tool display to the specific screen titled "Engine Restart Counter Reset".

   Clear the Lock

   Execute the "Engine Restart Counter Reset" command to unlock the inducement system and clear the torque comparison fault.
