Case IH 17572 (F-518494-19) - ECU – ECU: CAN message corruption between vehicle controller and ECM controller - TSC1_PE message
Issue description
The Engine Control Module (ECM/ECU) has received an invalid value or experienced a communication failure from the machine/vehicle controller regarding the Torque-Speed Control (TSC1_PE) message over the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus.
Applies to these machines
8 machines- VESTRUM CVX
- Farmall 40
- Farmall 45
- Farmall 50
- 240 Series Axial-Flow Combines
- Puma
- Magnum
- Maxxum
Check the cause
Verify that the tractor's battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply
Check the battery voltage on the instrument cluster by starting the engine and running it at 2000 rev/min to ensure proper voltage
Inspect the CAN Node A Bus (main vehicle interface bus) wiring harness between the vehicle controller (VCM) and the ECU for physical damage, open circuits, or short circuits
Repair steps
Isolate the Power Supply
Ensure no external power sources are interfering with the CAN bus signals.
Test the Wiring Harness
Perform a continuity and short-to-ground test on the twisted-pair CAN network connecting the vehicle controller to the ECU.
Repair/Replace Harness
If a short circuit or break is indicated during testing, repair or replace the affected section of the wire harness as required.
Software Update
If the wire harness tests okay and no physical defects are found, download and flash the correct/latest level of software to the controllers.
Module Replacement
If the fault recurs after verifying the harness and updating the software, remove and replace the ECU/CCU.
