Case IH 17576 (F-518494-09) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): CAN communication failure between vehicle controller and ECU controller - TSC1_PE message

This fault code indicates a Controller Area Network (CAN) communication timeout or failure. Specifically, the Engine Control Unit (ECU) is failing to receive the expected Torque/Speed Control (TSC1_PE) message from the main vehicle controller.

   Check for other related vehicle CAN faults (such as a TSC1_VR message fault). If they exist, resolve them first as a broader CAN bus failure will trigger this code.

   Verify that the machine's battery has not been connected to an external power supply or jump-starter, which can cause voltage irregularities and CAN interference.

   Disconnect the vehicle (VE) harness from the ECU (e.g., at connector X-911). With the ignition switch ON, use a multimeter to check for proper supply voltage on the harness.

   Inspect the twisted-pair CAN wiring between the Central Control Unit (CCU) / Universal Control Module (UCM) and the ECU for shorts, corrosion, or open circuits.

   If an external power supply is connected to the tractor/machine, disconnect it immediately and test the system for normal operation.

   If the ECU supply voltage test reveals no voltage, consult the vehicle's electrical schematics to locate the break. Repair the wiring, replace blown fuses, or fix the faulty charging system to restore supply power to the ECU.

   If power is present but communication is still failing, repair or replace the damaged sections of the CAN Node A Bus wiring harness between the vehicle controller and the ECU.
