   Connect a diagnostic tool and erase the Level 2/3 error (17611 / 518220-31) from the fault code memory

   Operate the vehicle for a short distance or run the machine under normal operating load to check the operation point

   Monitor if the code returns (this procedure is independent of any Level 1 errors that may have been logged in parallel)

   Erase fault code

   Connect your diagnostic tool and erase the Level 2/3 error (17611 / 518220-31) from the fault code memory.

   Operate the vehicle for a short distance (e.g., a few kilometers) or run the machine under normal operating load to check the operation point.

   Evaluate transient error

   If the Level 2/3 error does not reappear after the test run, do not replace the ECU. The erasure of the fault code memory is sufficient to resolve the transient error.

   Replace Engine ECU

   If the Level 2/3 error reappears in a short time, the internal failure is permanent and you must replace the Engine ECU. A blank or remanufactured ECU must be programmed by a Case IH dealer using the EST (Electronic Service Tool) to match the machine's specific fuel mapping and immobilizer/CAN-bus configuration.
