This code indicates that an excessive amount of unburned hydrocarbons (HC) and soot has accumulated in the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) or oxidation catalyst. The primary cause is the engine being driven or run for a long time at idle conditions or in low temperatures, preventing passive regeneration.

   Verify with the operator if the machine has been idling for extended periods or operating under very light loads in cold weather

   Ensure the DPF Regeneration Inhibit switch has not been accidentally pressed or left engaged, preventing exhaust cleaning

   Perform a sensor plausibility check after a long standstill (e.g., 10 hours) using a diagnostic tool to compare engine coolant temperature with exhaust gas temperatures

   Drive Under Load

   Warm up engine and exhaust by driving under load. Put the machine to work in the field at operating RPMs to naturally raise the exhaust gas temperatures and burn off the accumulated hydrocarbons.

   Perform a Manual/Service Regeneration

   If driving under load does not clear the code, park the tractor in a safe, well-ventilated area away from combustible materials. Initiate a manual stationary DPF regeneration using the in-cab DPF switch.

   Force Regeneration via Service Tool

   If the accumulation has locked out the manual switch, connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to force a 'Service Regeneration' and reset the soot/HC counters.

   Inspect/Replace Sensors

   If the regeneration fails to start or aborts, inspect the exhaust gas temperature sensors and the exhaust pressure differential switch for heavy soot buildup, damaged wiring, or failure. Replace if defective.
