The engine's control module has detected an internal software or hardware anomaly within its Safety Management Unit. This is classified as a Level 1 internal error, which is often triggered by functional dependencies when other Level 2 or Level 3 errors are entered in parallel.

   Check the fault memory for any Level 2 or Level 3 errors that may have been triggered at the same time, as this Level 1 error is often a secondary symptom.

   Clear the fault code memory completely.

   Cycle the key and operate the machine to see if the fault code returns.

   Evaluate after clearing codes

   If the error does NOT reappear after clearing the fault codes, do not replace the ECU. The erasure of the fault code memory is sufficient, as the code was likely a transient software dependency.

   Replace ECM

   If the error REAPPEARS (or if the associated Level 2/3 errors return and point to a hard internal failure), the internal failure is confirmed, and the Engine Control Module (ECM) must be replaced.
