This code indicates a critical internal hardware or software malfunction within the Electronic Control Unit (ECU). Specifically, the module's internal Safety Management Unit (SMU) has detected an anomaly that triggered an Alarm Group 1 fault.

   Verify the main power and ground supplies to the Engine ECU for voltage drops, electrical spikes, or a short to ground on the ECU actuator supply lines

   Disconnect the ECU harnesses and check for moisture, corrosion, or bent pins at the MD-1 ECU connectors

   Clear the fault code using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) and cycle the key to determine if the code was caused by a transient voltage spike or if the ECU is permanently damaged

   Park machine

   Park the machine on a flat, level surface and turn off the engine.

   Disconnect battery

   Disconnect the main battery negative terminal to prevent electrical arcing during module removal.

   Locate ECU

   Locate the Engine ECU (MD-1) mounted on the machine/engine block.

   Disconnect harnesses

   Carefully release the locking levers on the wiring harnesses and disconnect the plugs from the ECU.

   Remove ECU

   Remove the mounting bolts securing the ECU to its bracket and remove the faulty unit.

   Install the replacement ECU and torque the mounting bolts to OEM specification.
