18.00 - ACML

Case IH 18.00 - ACML – ACML: Initialization of at least one module failed

Issue description

Indicates a startup or communication failure on the CAN bus network. The system is unable to establish a connection or verify the startup sequence of the Armrest Control Module (or a sub-module it relies on) when the machine is powered on.

Applies to these machines

  • MAXXUM T4E
  • VESTRUM CVX
  • MAXXUM 135
  • Magnum (235-340 Series 4)
  • Steiger (350-600)
  • Puma

Check the cause

  1. Check for secondary codes related to the ACM (such as code 2818 - Loss of communication with the armrest control module), clear the codes, and test the system for normal operation to see if the initialization failure returns.

  2. Inspect all tractor control unit (TCU) and ACML connectors. Ensure the connectors are fully seated, not damaged, and that the pins are in the correct position without corrosion.

Repair steps

  1. Power down the machine and disconnect the battery.

Power down the machine and disconnect the battery.

  2. Access the armrest console to expose the ACML wiring harness.

Access the armrest console to expose the ACML wiring harness.

  3. Disconnect the main harness from the ACML and perform a continuity check on the CAN bus lines to ensure the initialization failure is not caused by a broken wire.

Disconnect the main harness from the ACML and perform a continuity check on the CAN bus lines to ensure the initialization failure is not caused by a broken wire.

  4. If the wiring and power/ground supplies are intact, the ACML itself has suffered a hardware failure and must be replaced.

  5. Remove the mounting screws (M3 x 0.5 x 14.4mm) securing the module.

  6. Install the new ECU - Full GARU ACML and reconnect the harness.
