Case IH 18010 – Armrest Controller (ARM): Powershift throttle -voltage too low

The electronic control unit is receiving a voltage signal from the powershift hand throttle (accelerator) potentiometer that has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold, indicating a short to ground, broken wire, unplugged connector, or failed internal potentiometer track.

   Visual Inspection: Disassemble the armrest cover and inspect the wiring harness and connector leading to the throttle potentiometer. Look for pinched wires, chafing, or disconnected pins.

   Voltage Supply Check: Using a multimeter, verify that the potentiometer is receiving its standard 5V reference voltage and a solid ground from the Armrest controller.

   Signal Circuit Check: Test the signal wire for continuity back to the Armrest controller. Check for a short to ground (which would pull the voltage low and trigger the 18010 code).

   Alignment & Calibration Check: Verify that the throttle potentiometer is not physically loose or out of alignment. Attempt to clear the code and recalibrate the throttle via the tractor's display monitor to see if the sensor's sweep is still readable.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Sensor

   Remove the screws securing the top cover of the right-hand armrest console to expose the internal linkages and circuit boards.

   Remove the Potentiometer

   Locate the powershift throttle lever mechanism. Unplug the 3-pin electrical connector from the throttle potentiometer.

   Dismount

   Remove the retaining screws/nuts holding the potentiometer to the throttle lever assembly and slide the sensor off the D-shaft.

   Install the New Part

   Slide the new potentiometer onto the shaft, ensuring the physical alignment tabs sit correctly in the bracket. Secure the mounting hardware.

   Reassemble

   Plug the electrical connector back in and reinstall the armrest console cover. Reconnect the battery.

   Recalibration

   Perform an armrest/throttle calibration using the tractor's display monitor or the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to teach the Armrest controller the new minimum and maximum voltage values for the idle and full-throttle positions.
