Case IH 18022 – Armrest Controller: Rear hitch sensitivity control potentiometer - voltage too low

The voltage signal returning from the rear hitch sensitivity control potentiometer has dropped below the acceptable lower limit (specifically, below 0.2 V). This condition typically indicates an open circuit, a short to ground in the sensor's signal wire, a loss of the 5-volt reference supply to the sensor, or an internal failure of the potentiometer itself.

   Access the diagnostic menu (often the 'H' menu mode via the tractor diagnostic connector) to verify the active status of the code.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the rear hitch sensitivity control potentiometer and the Armrest Controller for physical damage, corrosion, or backed-out pins.

   Using a multimeter, verify that the potentiometer is receiving the correct 5-volt reference voltage and has a solid ground connection.

   Check the signal wire for continuity between the potentiometer and the Armrest Controller, ensuring it is not shorted to ground.

   Monitor the voltage output of the potentiometer while sweeping the dial; if the voltage drops out or remains below 0.2 V despite good wiring, the potentiometer is faulty.

   Disconnect power

   Turn off the tractor key and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

   Access armrest internals

   Disassemble the right-hand armrest console to access the internal control boards and potentiometers.
