Case IH 18032 – Armrest Controller: Front hitch position / pressure control potentiometer - voltage too low.

This indicates that the signal voltage returning from the front hitch position sensor has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold (typically < 0.2V). This is usually caused by an open circuit, a short to ground in the wiring, or an internal failure of the potentiometer itself.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the front hitch position potentiometer for physical damage, pinched wires, or corrosion.

   Disconnect the sensor and turn the key ON to verify that the sensor is receiving a steady 5V reference voltage from the controller and has a solid ground.

   Check the signal wire for continuity between the sensor connector and the Armrest controller harness. Ensure there is no short to ground.

   If the wiring is intact, measure the resistance across the potentiometer while manually moving the hitch linkage. The resistance should change smoothly without any dead spots or sudden drops to zero.

   Power Down

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect battery power to prevent short circuits.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the front hitch position potentiometer, which is mounted on the front hitch linkage assembly.

   Removal

   Disconnect the electrical connector. Remove the retaining hardware (usually small bolts or a locking clip) and carefully slide the old potentiometer off the linkage shaft.

   Installation

   Install the new potentiometer, ensuring the mechanical linkage aligns correctly with the sensor's rotational axis. Secure the mounting hardware and plug in the electrical connector.

   Calibration

   A new potentiometer will trigger a not calibrated fault (such as code 9006). You must use the tractor's in-cab display monitor or a diagnostic service tool to perform the Front Hitch Calibration procedure. This teaches the controller the new minimum and maximum voltage values for the hitch's full range of motion.
