Case IH 18043 – Armrest Control Module (ACM): EHR 2 lever position - voltage too high

The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the potentiometer inside the Electronic Hitch/Remote (EHR) lever #2 that exceeds the maximum expected threshold. This typically points to an internal short to power (5V reference) within the lever's sensor, an open ground circuit, or a failed potentiometer.

   Check for accompanying codes (such as 5V reference faults or ground faults) to determine if multiple levers are affected, indicating a shared 5V reference short or shared open ground in the armrest harness.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness and connectors directly beneath the EHR lever #2 in the armrest for pinched wires, backed-out pins, or corrosion.

   Disconnect the EHR lever #2 and use a multimeter to verify that the sensor ground circuit has continuity to the module ground, and check that the 5V reference wire is not shorted to battery voltage.

   Clear the fault code from the display, cycle the key, and operate the lever to see if the code returns immediately (indicating a hard electrical fault) or only at the end of the lever's physical travel (indicating a calibration or mechanical limit issue).

   Attempt Calibration

   Before replacing parts, attempt to recalibrate the EHR levers. Access the calibration menu (H-Menu) via the Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC) or the Pro Vision display.

   Activate the Lever

   Follow the on-screen prompts to activate EHR lever #2 (often by pressing the CRPM switch until 'R2' is displayed). Move the lever through its full range of motion (Max Extend, Neutral, Max Retract, and Float detents) so the module can learn the voltage limits.

   Evaluate Calibration Results

   If the calibration fails or the voltage remains out of range, the potentiometer inside the lever is defective.

   Replace the Lever

   Power down the tractor. Remove the armrest console cover to access the EHR lever block. Disconnect the electrical harness for lever #2 and unbolt the lever assembly from the console bracket.

   Install the replacement EHR lever assembly, plug in the connector, and reassemble the armrest.

   You must perform the EHR lever calibration procedure on the new lever before it will operate the remote valve correctly.
