Case IH 18048 – Armrest Controller (ARM): EHR (remote valve) 4 lever position - voltage too high

The voltage signal coming from the potentiometer (sensor) of the 4th Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) control lever is exceeding the maximum expected threshold. This condition is typically caused by a short to power in the wiring, an open ground circuit, or a complete internal failure of the lever's potentiometer.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors under the armrest console leading to the EHR 4 lever.

   Ensure the connectors are fully seated and not damaged. Verify that the pins are in the correct position, free of corrosion, and that the pin fit is tight.

   Test the sensor circuit for continuity. Check for an open ground or a short to a 5V/12V power source.

   Check if the EHR lever has lost its calibration. Attempt to run the EHR lever calibration procedure via the tractor's display monitor before tearing into the hardware.

   Attempt Calibration

   If the wiring tests good, enter the tractor's calibration menu (via the Pro Vision display or EIC) and perform the EHR lever calibration procedure.

   Replace the Lever

   If the calibration fails, or if the fault code immediately returns, the potentiometer inside the EHR 4 lever is defective. The lever assembly must be replaced.

   Disassemble Armrest

   Power down the tractor and disconnect the battery. Remove the right-hand armrest console cover to access the EHR lever block.

   Swap the Component

   Disconnect the electrical connector for lever #4. Unbolt the faulty lever assembly from the armrest housing and install the new lever.

   Reassemble and Recalibrate

   Reconnect the wiring and reassemble the armrest. Crucial step: Anytime an EHR lever or the Armrest Controller is replaced, you must perform the EHR lever calibration procedure so the Armrest Controller can learn the new potentiometer's voltage range.

   Verify Operation

   Clear the fault codes and verify that code 18048 does not return when actuating the #4 remote valve.
