Case IH 18056 – Armrest Control Module (ACM): Joystick 2 X-axis position sensor voltage signal too high
Issue description
Joystick 2 X-axis position sensor is sending a voltage signal that is too high (above the acceptable upper limit). This typically points to a short to power (12V) or an open ground circuit in the sensor or wiring. If the tractor is not physically equipped with a second joystick, it indicates incorrect configuration of the ACM.

Check the cause
Verify Machine Configuration: Check if the tractor is actually equipped with a second joystick. If it is not, the issue is purely software-related.
Check ACM Configuration: Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify the Armrest Control Module configuration settings.
Inspect Connectors: If the joystick is present, inspect the H4, H13, and H14 connectors on the EDC panel and Integrated Control Panel (ICP) for damaged pins, corrosion, or loose connections.
Test Wiring: Test the X-axis signal wire between Joystick 2 and the ACM for a short to 12V power or an open ground circuit.
Check for Related Codes: Look for other active ACM error codes (such as 18057 or 18058 for the Y-axis), clear the codes, and test the system for normal operation to see if the code returns.
Repair steps
Connect diagnostic tool
Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the tractor's diagnostic port.
Update ACM configuration
If Joystick 2 is NOT installed: Navigate to the Armrest Control Module (ACM) configuration menu. Update the software configuration to indicate that Joystick 2 is not present. Save the configuration, cycle the key, and clear the fault code.
Test X-axis signal wire
If Joystick 2 IS installed: Disconnect the harness at the joystick and at the ACM. Use a multimeter to check the X-axis signal wire for a short to power (12V).
Repair wiring harness
Repair or replace the wiring harness if a short or open circuit is found.
Replace Joystick 2 assembly
If the wiring harness and connectors test good, the internal X-axis potentiometer/sensor inside the joystick has failed. Replace the Joystick 2 assembly.
Verify repair
Reconnect all components, clear the fault code using the EST, and operate the joystick through its full X-axis range of motion to verify the repair.
