Case IH 18068 – Armrest Controller: EHR (Remote Valve) 3 Lever Implausibility Error

The control module has detected an implausible signal from the Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve #3 control lever. This typically means the internal potentiometer within the armrest lever is failing, sending an erratic voltage, or failing to register the correct physical position (such as neutral or detent).

   Check for associated EHR or Armrest codes (such as voltage too high/low for the lever position) which can confirm a failed potentiometer.

   Observe the remote valve indicator lights on the A-post or cab display. If the green cylinder light stays on when the #3 lever is physically resting in the neutral position, the lever's potentiometer is likely worn out.

   Attempt to recalibrate the EHR levers (hold PROG key while turning ignition ON, navigate to ARM, pull levers fully back, fully forward, then neutral, turn key off and wait 30 seconds).

   Check the EHR CAN BUS wiring harness in the armrest for chafing or loose connections. Verify that the resistance between CAN High and CAN Low (terminals 2 and 3) is approximately 120 ohms.

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Ensure the machine is safe to work on before beginning disassembly.

   Disassemble the armrest console cover to gain access to the EHR lever block assembly.

   Remove the necessary covers to expose the internal components of the armrest.

   Locate the #3 EHR remote lever. Disconnect its electrical harness connector.

   Identify the specific lever causing the fault and unplug it from the system.

   Remove the retaining screws/nuts holding the faulty #3 EHR lever assembly in the armrest console and extract the unit.

   Unbolt and physically remove the failed lever assembly.

   Install the new EHR lever/potentiometer assembly into the console and secure it with the retaining hardware.

   Place the replacement unit into position and bolt it down.

   Reconnect the electrical harness to the new lever.

   Plug the connector back into the newly installed lever assembly.

   Reassemble the armrest console covers.

   Put all removed covers and panels back into place.

   Reconnect the battery.

   Restore power to the tractor.

   Turn the ignition on and perform the EHR lever calibration procedure via the tractor's diagnostic display/A-post.

   This allows the Armrest Controller to learn the new potentiometer's minimum, maximum, and neutral voltage values.

    Clear the stored 18068 fault code and test the #3 remote valve for proper hydraulic operation.

    Verify the repair was successful and the fault does not return.
