Case IH 1807 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / ISM-IDI Engine Controller: ISM-IDI Aftertreatment Burner Glow Voltage Low

The engine control system has detected that the voltage on the aftertreatment burner glow plug circuit is lower than the expected operating range. This typically indicates a short to ground in the wiring, a failed (internally shorted) glow plug, a blown fuse, or a faulty burner glow relay.

   Verify the machine's system voltage is within normal operating range (above 11.5V), as low overall system voltage can trigger false sensor readings

   Locate the Burner Glow Relay (often labeled K-9107) in the main fuse box and test it for proper operation. Check associated main power fuses and the burner glow relay diode

   Trace the wiring from the ECU to the Burner Glow Relay and down to the Burner Glow Plug (connector X-9023). Look for chafed wires causing a short to ground, particularly on the power supply wire

   Disconnect the burner glow plug and measure its resistance with a multimeter. If it shows a dead short, the glow plug has failed

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the key switch and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

   Replace Faulty Components

   If the wiring harness is damaged, repair the shorted section using proper weather-sealed connectors. If the Burner Glow Relay failed testing, replace the 12V 35A micro relay. If the Burner Glow Plug is shorted, remove it from the DPF burner assembly and install a new glow plug.

   Reassemble and Reconnect

   Reconnect all electrical connectors (X-9023 for the glow plug) and reconnect the battery.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST), clear the 1807 fault code, and run a manual/forced DPF regeneration. Monitor the burner temperatures (DOC-In and DPF-Out) to verify the burner glow plug successfully ignites the fuel and the code does not return.
