Case IH 18070 – Armrest Controller Module (ACM): EHR 5 lever implausibility error (not applicable to CCM/APH _it may indicate incorrect configuration of the ACM)

The system is receiving an erratic, out-of-range, or illogical signal from the Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) #5 control lever. This often points to a software configuration mismatch rather than a hardware failure, where the controller is programmed to look for a 5th remote lever that does not physically exist or is configured incorrectly.

   Verify Tractor Equipment (Configuration cause): Physically check the tractor's armrest to see if a 5th Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) lever is actually installed.

   Check ACM Configuration (Configuration cause): Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to view the Armrest Controller Module settings. Check parameter (Config B/b 5.3) EHR 5 lever position to see if the module is incorrectly programmed to expect a 5th lever.

   Inspect Wiring (Hardware cause): If the tractor does have a 5th remote, inspect the wiring harness and connectors at the EHR 5 lever for corrosion, backed-out pins, or wire chafing that could cause an implausible signal.

   Connect diagnostic tool

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the tractor's diagnostic port.

   Navigate to ACM menu

   Navigate to the Armrest Controller Module (ACM) configuration menu.

   Reconfigure ACM (Configuration cause)

   If the tractor does NOT have a 5th remote: Reconfigure the ACM settings to indicate that EHR 5 is not installed. Save the configuration, cycle the key, and clear the fault code.

   Test and replace EHR 5 lever (Hardware cause)

   If the tractor DOES have a 5th remote: Disconnect the EHR 5 lever and test the circuit for proper 5-volt reference and ground. If the wiring is intact, the EHR lever's internal potentiometer/encoder has failed. Remove the armrest trim panel, unplug the faulty EHR 5 lever, unbolt it from the mounting bracket, install the replacement EHR lever, plug in the harness, and reassemble the armrest.

   Clear code and calibrate

   Use the EST to clear the 18070 fault code and perform a remote valve calibration to ensure the new lever is recognized and functioning properly.
