Case IH 18072 – Armrest Controller (ARM): EDC mouse raise/work switch fault (NH Only)
Issue description
This code indicates a malfunction in the Electronic Draft Control (EDC) "mouse" switch. The system has detected an implausible signal, open circuit, or short circuit originating from this switch.
Applies to these machines
7 machines- Magnum
- Steiger
- Quadtrac
- Puma
- T7
- T8
- T9
Check the cause
Inspect the EDC mouse on the armrest for physical damage, sticking buttons, or debris lodged in the switch mechanism
Access the wiring harness inside the armrest console and inspect the connector to the EDC mouse for loose pins, corrosion, or backed-out wires
Using a multimeter, test the EDC mouse harness for continuity, checking for an open circuit, a short to ground, or a short to voltage (B+) on the switch signal wires leading back to the Armrest Controller
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.
Disassemble Armrest
Remove the retaining screws and the upper cover of the right-hand multi-function armrest console to access the underside of the control layout.
Disconnect Switch
Locate the EDC mouse assembly (situated near the CommandGrip joystick) and unplug its electrical connector.
Remove the EDC Mouse
Unbolt or unclip the faulty EDC mouse housing from the armrest console.
Install New Part
Seat the new EDC mouse control unit into the armrest and secure it. Reconnect the electrical harness.
Reassemble and Test
Reinstall the armrest covers, reconnect the battery, and power on the tractor. Test the rear hitch raise and lower functions to ensure proper operation.
Clear Codes
Use the tractor's display monitor or an Electronic Service Tool (EST) to clear the inactive 18072 fault code from the Armrest Controller's memory.
