18255 (517815.03, 517815.04, 518560.02, 518560.03, 518560.04) - ACML

Case IH 18255 (517815.03, 517815.04, 518560.02, 518560.03, 518560.04) - ACML – ACML: EHR2 Lever Position ACML - error state

Issue description

This code is triggered when there is a problem with the armrest dispenser controls, specifically the position sensor of the Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) lever #2. It is frequently caused by poor electrical contact due to electrical contamination (grease/carbon buildup) or voltage fluctuations, or by overly sensitive error detection thresholds in older software versions.

Applies to these machines

  • MAXXUM T4E
  • VESTRUM CVX
  • Case IH Puma Series (130, 150, 175, 185, 200, 220, 230, 240 CVX)
  • Case IH Vestrum CVX / CVXDrive

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the physical movement of the #2 remote lever on the armrest for excessive friction or physical damage.

  2. Check the wiring harness and connectors between the EHR2 lever and the ACML for poor contact, corrosion, or electrical contamination.

  3. Verify the current software version of the ACML using the electronic service tool (EST). Versions older than 3.0 may trigger false positives due to overly sensitive error parameters.

Repair steps

  1. Update software

Update the ACML software to Version 3.0 or 3.1. The revised software features a relaxed error code parameter that increases the error detection time from 50 ms to 500 ms, preventing false codes.

  2. Clean and inspect contacts

If the software update does not clear the code, clean the electrical contacts on the EHR lever block to remove any excess lubricating grease or carbon residue.

  3. Replace faulty components

If the lever's internal carbon film is worn out of tolerance or the module has failed, replace the EHR lever block or the ACML.

  4. Recalibrate levers

If a new lever or module is installed, calibrate the EHR levers by pressing the CRPM switch on the B-pillar/dash until 'R2' is displayed on the Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC), and follow the on-screen prompts to set the max flow and detent positions.
