Case IH 18257 (517817.03, 517817.04, 518562.02, 518562.03, 518562.04) - ACML – ACML: EHR4 Lever Position ACML - error state

Signal failure, bad electrical contact, or unexpected voltage fluctuation coming from the Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve #4 lever position sensor. This is caused by a manufacturing/design limitation within the lever's internal potentiometer where friction causes carbon powder to scrape off and stick to the grease, creating electrical contamination.

   Inspect the wiring harness for the armrest and EHR levers for any crushed, pinched, or damaged wires caused by poor factory routing

   Check the electrical connectors at the EHR4 lever and the ACML for loose pins or electrical contamination

   Verify if the EHR lever has been properly calibrated and attempt an EHR lever calibration procedure through the tractor's display before replacing parts

   Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST).

   This is the first step for the software update containment action.

   Flash the ACML with the revised software version (v3.0 or v3.1, depending on the specific tractor model).

   This revised software features 'relaxed' error code parameters. It increases the error detection time from 50 milliseconds to 500 milliseconds, which prevents the system from throwing a code over the minor voltage fluctuations caused by the carbon/grease friction.

   Disassemble the armrest console to access the ACML and EHR lever block.

   Perform this step if the software update does not resolve the issue, or if the lever has failed completely due to internal plastic/carbon debris.

   Remove the faulty EHR4 lever and install the revised replacement part.

   Install the new EHR lever assembly or new ACML as needed.

   Perform the EHR lever calibration procedure via the tractor's display/EST.

   You must perform this calibration once the new lever or ACML is installed. If calibration is not performed, the system will continue to reject the lever inputs.
