Case IH 18267 (518756.03, 518756.04) - ACML – ACML: Rear Hitch Draft Sensitivity Potentiometer Error State

Issue description

The fault code indicates an error state with the Rear Hitch Draft Sensitivity Potentiometer, meaning the sensor's signal to the microprocessor is out of the expected range (e.g., a short to ground, short to power, or open circuit).

Applies to these machines

  • MAXXUM T4E
  • VESTRUM CVX
  • Farmall 85C
  • Farmall 95C
  • Farmall 105C
  • TM115
  • TM125
  • TM135
  • TM150
  • TM165

Check the cause

  1. Access the diagnostic routines (e.g., 'H' routines) to observe the potentiometer's live values.

  2. Check the Position/Draft Sensitivity Potentiometer channel values: the system should read approximately 84 when the dial is turned fully clockwise and 14 when turned fully counter-clockwise (allow up to a 10% variance).

  3. Verify the input voltage (Vf Input / Vd Input) to the microprocessor.

  4. Check the wiring harness for the B25 Draft Sensitivity Potentiometer for continuity, shorts, or open circuits.

Repair steps

  1. Repair wiring harness

Repair the damaged wiring harness based on the diagnostic checks.

  2. Replace potentiometer

Replace the faulty potentiometer if the wiring harness is intact.

Parts you might need
