Case IH 18302 – ACML: CRPM Decrease Switch CAN Signal Error

Issue description

Indicates an error state with the CAN signal (PB_UserCmd2_Full_06.CRPM_FineTuneDnSw) originating from the ACML. The module is detecting a physical fault with the CRPM Decrease switch (such as being stuck, shorted, or disconnected) or there is a communication error broadcasting the switch's position over the CAN bus.

Applies to these machines

  • VESTRUM CVX
  • Case IH Puma Series (e.g., Puma 140, 165, 180, 195, 210, 225 CVX)
  • Case IH Maxxum Series (e.g., Maxxum 135 Multicontroller ActiveDrive 8 - Stage V)

Check the cause

  1. Verify the active or stored status of the code in the controller's EEPROM using the display menu 'HB - DISPLAY STORED FAULT CODES'

  2. Test the CRPM decrease switch manually to see if power boost or constant RPM functions respond to operator input

  3. Check the wiring harness connections at the Armrest Control Module (ACML)

  4. Test the physical CRPM switch for continuity to check for a stuck, shorted, or disconnected state

Repair steps

  1. Verify the Code

Use the tractor's display menu 'HB - DISPLAY STORED FAULT CODES' to verify the active/stored status of the code in the controller's EEPROM.

  2. Symptom Check

Test the CRPM decrease switch manually to verify if the power boost or constant RPM functions respond to operator input.

  3. General Repair

Check the wiring harness connections at the Armrest Control Module and test the physical CRPM switch for continuity.

  4. Replace Assembly

If the switch is integrated into the armrest and has failed internally, or if the ACML is failing to process the CAN signal, replace the module/switch assembly.
