18313 (518607.02, 518607.07) - ACML

Case IH 18313 (518607.02, 518607.07) - ACML – ACML: EHR3 Program / Motor Mode Switch Error State

Issue description

The EHR3 (Electro-Hydraulic Remote No. 3) Program / Motor Mode Switch is sending an implausible signal, or there is a poor electrical contact/contamination issue causing the module to read an error.

Applies to these machines

  • MAXXUM T4E
  • VESTRUM CVX
  • Puma
  • Magnum
  • Maxxum
  • Vestrum
  • Steiger

Check the cause

  1. H-Menu Switch Test: Enter the 'H5' Switch operation test menu on the tractor's instrument cluster. Actuate the EHR3 program/motor mode switch. The display should show the identifier code 'd97' and emit an audible tone.

  2. Wiggle Test: If 'd97' is not displayed and no tone is heard, perform a 'wiggle test' on the armrest wiring harness while watching the display or listening for the tone to locate loose connections or crushed wires.

  3. Software Version Check: Check the ACML software version (v3.0/v3.1 relaxes error parameters to prevent false codes caused by minor voltage fluctuations or grease/carbon contamination).

Repair steps

  1. Update Software

Update the ACML software to the latest version (v3.1 or higher) using the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to see if the relaxed parameters resolve the error state.

  2. Access the Module

If the fault persists, power down the machine and disassemble the right-hand armrest console to access the ACML and EHR switches.

  3. Inspect Wiring

Inspect the wiring harness for the EHR3 switch for crushed or damaged wires, which is a known cause for this fault. Repair any damaged wiring.

  4. Clean Contacts

Clean the switch contacts if carbon film or grease contamination is present.

  5. Replace Components

If the switch or module has a hard hardware failure, replace the faulty EHR switch or the entire Armrest Control Module.

  6. Clear Codes

Reassemble the armrest, power on the tractor, and clear the EEPROM fault codes using the H8 menu or EST.
