Case IH 18321 (4159.02, 4159.03, 4159.04, 520608.07) - ACML – ACML: Rear Hitch Raise Switch ACML - error state

The system has detected an electrical fault (such as an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power) or an implausible signal coming from the rear hitch raise switch. This specific switch is an input (identifier d6) located on the tractor's Multi-Function Handle (MFH) joystick.

   Inspect the Multi-Function Handle (MFH) to see if the rear hitch raise switch is physically stuck, damaged, or jammed with debris.

   Remove the armrest trim and inspect the wiring harness connecting the MFH to the ACML. Look for pinched wires, chafing, or loose/corroded pins at the connector.

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) and navigate to the ACML advanced configuration/diagnostics screen. Monitor input d6 (MFH - Rear hitch raise switch) and press the switch to see if the state changes.

   Attempt to clear the fault code using the EST. If the code immediately returns as active and wiring is intact, the switch/handle has failed internally.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements, turn off the engine, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Armrest

   Carefully pry or unscrew the upper trim panels on the right-hand armrest console to expose the base of the Multi-Function Handle.

   Disconnect Wiring

   Locate the main electrical connector at the base of the MFH and carefully unplug it from the armrest harness.

   Remove the Handle

   Remove the mounting screws/bolts securing the MFH base to the armrest console structure. Lift the old handle out of the machine.

   Install the New Handle

   Seat the new MFH into the armrest console and secure it with the mounting hardware.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the harness, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place. Reinstall all armrest trim panels.

   Calibration & Testing

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition ON and connect the EST. Clear the stored 18321 fault code. You may need to perform a joystick/MFH calibration procedure via the EST or the tractor's Pro 600/700 display to ensure the new handle's proportional inputs are learned by the ACML. Test the rear hitch raise function to confirm the repair.
