18326 (4163.02, 4163.03, 4163.04, 518568.07) - ACML

Case IH 18326 (4163.02, 4163.03, 4163.04, 518568.07) - ACML – ACML: MFH EHR1 Extend Switch ACML - error state

Issue description

The control module is detecting an implausible signal, open circuit, or short circuit from the specific button/switch on the handle used to extend the #1 hydraulic remote.

Applies to these machines

  • MAXXUM T4E
  • VESTRUM CVX
  • Magnum Series (235, 260, 290, 340)
  • Puma Series (165, 180, 190, 195, 200, 210, 225, 230 CVX and Powershift)
  • Steiger / Quadtrac / Rowtrac Series
  • Optum Series

Check the cause

  1. Use the tractor's built-in H9 Voltmeter diagnostic menu to verify the operation of the MFH switches (channels d178 for extend and d179 for retract). Check if the module registers a state change when the button is pressed.

  2. Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST) and verify the ACM configuration. Ensure the MFH handle position and EHR configurations are correctly set for the tractor's specific transmission (CVT vs. Powershift).

  3. Inspect the wiring harness connecting the Multi-Function Handle to the Armrest Control Module. Look for pinched wires, backed-out pins, or corrosion at the connector base of the joystick.

Repair steps

  1. Power down the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Remove the armrest control bezel/cover to access the base of the Multi-Function Handle.

  3. Disconnect the main electrical harness connector at the base of the MFH.

  4. Remove the mounting hardware securing the handle (typically M6 x 25mm hex socket screws).

  5. Install the new or remanufactured Multi-Function Handle and secure the mounting screws.

  6. Reconnect the electrical harness and reassemble the armrest bezel.

  7. Reconnect the battery and turn the key start on.

  8. Valve Calibration/Recognition: Navigate to the HJ menu on the display. The lower central display will momentarily show "Ehr_" followed by "Ehr1", and an audible beep will indicate that the valve has been recognized and renumbered by the system.

  9. Clear the fault codes using the EST or the tractor's diagnostic display.
