18332 (4165.02, 4165.03, 4165.04, 520625.07) - ACML

Case IH 18332 (4165.02, 4165.03, 4165.04, 520625.07) - ACML – Armrest Control Module (ACM / ACML): MFH Forward Switch ACML - error state

Issue description

The control system has detected an invalid, missing, or implausible signal from the Forward Switch located on the Multi-Function Handle (MFH). The system is unable to verify the switch's position due to an electrical fault, placing the switch into an error state.

Applies to these machines

Check the cause

  1. Enter the 'H5' diagnostic menu on the tractor's display, navigate to channel d137 (MFH - Forward switch), and toggle the switch to see if the module registers the state change

  2. Use the 'H9' Voltmeter Diagnostic menu to verify the voltage supplies and check for intermittent faults in the MFH circuits

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the Multi-Function Handle and the Armrest Control Module for pinched wires, loose pins, or corrosion

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn the ignition key switch OFF and ensure all power is disconnected before servicing the armrest.

  2. Access the ACM/MFH

Remove the necessary trim panels on the MultiControl armrest to access the base of the Multi-Function Handle and the Armrest Control Module.

  3. Inspect and Test

Disconnect the MFH harness. Use a multimeter to test the continuity of the Forward switch pins while actuating the button.

  4. Replace Component

If the switch fails the continuity test, the switch/handle assembly must be replaced (the forward switch is typically integrated into the MFH assembly and not serviced individually).

  5. Clear Fault Codes

After reconnecting the new handle, turn the key ON. Enter the 'H' menu. Navigate to the error codes screen. Hold down the 'm' / 'Decr' key; the display will scroll through '05, 04, 03, 02, 01, EE' and beep to confirm the errors are cleared.

  6. Recalibrate

Depending on the tractor model, run the transmission/armrest calibration procedure to ensure the new MFH is recognized correctly by the ACM.
