Case IH 18337 – ACML: Configurable Switch #2: 'PB_UserCmd2_Full_06.CfgSw_2' CAN signal from ACML - error state

Issue description

The system is detecting an error state or missing signal from a user-configurable switch (Switch #2) that is routed through the ACML, indicating a Controller Area Network (CAN) communication failure.

Applies to these machines

  • VESTRUM CVX
  • Maxxum 135 Multicontroller (Stage V)
  • Puma series

Check the cause

  1. Verify the physical condition of Configurable Switch #2 on the armrest to ensure it is not mechanically stuck or damaged

  2. Check the wiring harness and connectors between the armrest switches and the ACML for continuity, corrosion, or pin damage

  3. Test the CAN bus communication lines (CAN High / CAN Low) at the ACML connector to ensure the module is properly communicating with the main vehicle ECU

  4. Check the ACML ground and power supply circuits (e.g., +12V SW from IGN SW)

Repair steps

  1. Replace switch

Replace the faulty configurable switch if it is determined to be the point of failure.

  2. Repair wiring

Repair damaged CAN wiring in the armrest harness.

  3. Replace ACML

Replace the ACML itself if the module has failed internally and is no longer broadcasting the switch state.
